"Redefining Pool Rescue"

Fergus Eadie is a World Record Holder, world champion, and one of the most accomplished pool rescue competitors of his generation. With medals at every international campaign he has attended, Fergus brings elite, battle-tested experience into every Kaha program. As Head Coach and Managing Partner of Kaha Aquatics, he leads the programme’s vision, standards, and performance culture.

About

Fergus Eadie is an internationally experienced surf lifesaving athlete and coach, with a career built at the highest level of the sport. He is a World Record Holder, World and World Games champion, and has represented New Zealand across multiple international campaigns in Europe, Australia, and beyond. Across every international competition he has attended, Fergus has returned with medals.

A defining part of Fergus’ career is his ability to compete at the highest level across both swimming-based and fin-based pool rescue events. While many elite athletes specialise in one discipline, Fergus has consistently performed in both. This dual-discipline ability allows him to understand pool rescue as a whole, rather than in isolation.

Beyond competition, Fergus has spent many years coaching athletes across a wide range of ages and abilities. His experience spans youth development to high-performance environments. He understands how to adapt coaching to suit the individual, whether a young athlete learning foundational skills, or a seasoned competitor refining performance.

As Managing Partner of Kaha Aquatics, Fergus leads the organisation’s coaching direction, systems, and day-to-day operations. Kaha has been built to share proven international coaching methods in a clear, structured, and supportive way.

Coaching Philosophy

Fergus’ coaching philosophy is built on clarity, structure, and intent. Every session has a clear purpose, and athletes are taught to understand not only what they are doing, but why they are doing it. This approach builds confidence, ownership, and long-term progress in the water.

At Kaha, Fergus promotes a modern approach to surf lifesaving, one that values working smarter, not simply harder. Training is designed to be efficient, technically accurate, and appropriate for the athlete’s age, experience, and goals. Quality always comes before volume.

This philosophy recognises that sustainable performance comes from consistency, good habits, and intelligent progression. Athletes are challenged, supported, and educated, ensuring they develop strong skills, confidence in the water, and a genuine enjoyment of the sport at every stage of their journey.
